Recently Bollywood and the whole country saw the protest that was raised against ‘Padmaavat‘. The film faced various challenges and protests by Karni Sena and other people. The film has raised a few issues which have hurt the beliefs of Rajputs and that’s where the protest started. But now the film has already released and is now running on 3000+ screens.
There have been other such films who have been appreciated but has also faced many criticisms before release. These films may have done great business after release but they have to go through a lot before their release. 1. Padmaavat
This film is a historical drama and it has to face major protest from Karni Sena. The film released in January 2018 but 4 major states didn’t support the release. Though the film was one of the most awaited of the year and has also received a great response.
2. OMG- Oh My God
There were charges of blasphemy against the film. Many people claimed that this film may hurt the religious sentiments of the people of India. But at the end, the film was released and also proved to be very successful in box office.
3. Goliyon Ki Rasleela- Ram Leela
The movie faced protests because of its title. But later on the film was released and the pairing of Deepika and Ranveer was loved by everyone.
4. Udta Punjab
The film faced troubles because of the use of the name of Punjab and also because of its drug theme. It also got leaked before its release and later on was released under high security.
5. PK
The film did face all kinds of protests and controversies. It was claimed as anti-Hindu by the members of Bajrang Dal. But even after so much the film did really well and even managed to break a few records.
6. Bajirao Mastani
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Bajirao Mastani‘ also faced a lot of protests and a multiplex in Pune has to cancel 5 shows of the film. But still, the film did really well in box office.
7. Jodhaa Akbar
The Rajputs protested against the film claiming that the film was playing with the information and historical facts. But despite all of that it was one of the best performances of Hrithik and Aishwarya. They shared a sizzling chemistry on-screen.
8. My Name Is Khan
This film was under controversies not because of its content but the dialogue that Shah Rukh Khan delivers in the film. The members of Bajrang Dal, Shiv Sena, and many other groups staged a massive protest against the film.
9. Madras Cafe
The film was protested against in Chennai because the people believed that the film is playing with the wrong chords. But later on, the film was released and was also appreciated.
10. Fire
This film boldly showed homosexuality and was therefore protested by many groups. People even requested to ban the film, theatres were attacked and ransacked but still, the film won many hearts
