IAF To Acquire Land In Uttarakhand For Conducting Border Area Activities

In the midst of the progressing standoff with China along the LAC, Central Air Command chief, Air Marshal Rajesh Kumar met Uttarakhand CM Trivendra Singh Rawat to look for land for setting up provisions that will enable the IAF to complete its action in the border.

The Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief , Central Air Command, during his meeting with CM Rawat on Friday likewise examined the accessibility of land for introducing air defence radars and advance landing ground in the hilly zones of the state because of their key importance, an official release stated.

Setting up provisions like air defence radars and an advanced landing ground in Uttarakhand’s hilly terrain of Chamoli, Pithoragarh and Uttarkashi will be of extraordinary help to the aviation based armed forces as they are in the nation’s north east, the AOC-in-C said.

CM Rawat said land will be made accessible to the IAF on need premise to direct its actions and requested the immediate arrangement of a nodal official in the administration to distinguish appropriate land for the reason.

Rawat informed the AOC-in-C about the acts being taken by the state government to create Pantnagar air terminal as a greenfield air terminal and redesign offices at the Jollygrant air terminal to international guidelines.
