Very few people are aware that Arnab never wanted to be a journalist he always wanted to be a lawyer, he opted for journalism because he got a scholarship from Oxford. His first job was as a journalist in ‘The Telegraph’ which was for a short period of time. Then he joined NDTV as a reporter where it all started.
2. Political Background
Very few people know that Arnab hails from a political background, his paternal grandfather was a lawyer and a Congress leader, whereas his maternal grandfather was a communist. His father Col. (Retd). Manoranjan Goswami is a BJP candidate who contested the election in Guwahati. He basically belongs to Assam.
3. Education
Despite being from Assam he has done his schooling from St.Mary’s, Delhi, and 12 from Jabalpur, Kendra Vidyalaya. He completed his BA. Hons in Sociology from ‘The Hindu’, after which he got a scholarship from Oxford.

Arnab admires the great musician Shri Bhupen Hazarika due to his multicultural identity that he too wanted. Shri Bhupen Hazarika is a legend in Assam and icon in Calcutta. According to Arnab, he loved his deep-throated voice which he considers to be his native land’s voice.
