The Hathras Police booked Congress pioneer and Rahul Gandhi’s close aid Shyoraj Jivan under charges of sedition. This comes after Jivan was caught on camera instigating riots in Hathras over the demise of a 19-year-old Dalit girl after she was supposedly assaulted by four men.
Conversing with the media after his capture, Jivan stated, “I am not a rioter. Whole life I have worked to promote communal harmony. I have been in people’s service for the last 40 years and not a single FIR has been filed against me.”
He also thanked the media saying, “thank you for making me the biggest traitor of India.”
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that his administration won’t spare any schemers and conspirators.
“Who is trying to incite violence and proms brutality in the name of caste and religion? The same faces were responsible for Muzzafarpur riots and forcing local businessmen to migrate. Now, they are attempting to repeat it again,” he added.
Jivan showed up at the police headquarters on Thursday saying he had been brought in by the cops. He added “I believe in I believe in India’s constitution that’s why I have come here to give my statement.”
In the interim, Uttar Pradesh Police claimed that the financing of near Rs 50 crores funds sourced from Mauritius was utilized by Popular Front of India (PFI) to prompt station brutality and riots in Hathras.
On Monday, four individuals who were en route to Hathras from Delhi were caught from Mathura.
UP Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Prashant Kumar said that they have joins with PFI. The four have now been reserved under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and for sedition and have been remanded to 14 days of custody.
The UP government has just mentioned the Supreme Court to screen the CBI test into the case, asserting that “vested interests are attempting to ascribe motive to derail a fair probe”.
