It is said that one should never play with water and fire. Water can be very beautiful but it can be very lethal at times. It has the ability to kill you in just seconds. There are several dangerous water bodies that are very much capable of harming your body like no other thing.
Travelling allows us to be with nature and relieve our stress. There are many ways of enjoying like swimming, fishing, hitch-hicking, rock-climbing and much more. But there are some places that everyone must remain wary of as they can prove to be really dangerous.

1. The Devil’s Pool
The Devil’s Pool is located at Victoria Falls which is found between Zambia and Zimbabwe. When the water level here reaches a certain point then only brave swimmers enter the pool. That is because a rock barrier keeps the current tame. But many people have lost their life while swimming in it as they crossed the rock barrier and fell to their grave.
2. Jacob’s Well
Jacob’s Well is situated at Texas, United States. It is one of the riskiest diving spots and has taken many divers to their death bed. One of its chambers looks like an exit route but can easily trap you to death. Its total depth is 40 meters.
3. Boiling Lake
Boiling Lake is the largest hot spring in the world. It is situated at Dominica. The edges alone measures 82-degree celsius. The center is yet to be measured because it is too dangerous.
4. Rio Tinto
Spain’s Rio Tinto is an acidic water body. It has a different color as well because of the iron dissolved in it. It can easily dissolve any fish that enters into it and I guess the same thing will happen with humans.
5. Lake Kivu
Lake Kivu is located on the border between the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda. It is like a natural time bomb which awaits a volcanic eruption before it goes and destroys the humans living nearby. It has 250 cubic kilometers worth of carbon dioxide and 65 cubic kilometers worth of methane gas.
6. Citarum River
Citarum River is situated in Indonesia and is severely polluted. But it is not just polluted, it is also used for boiling food, drinking, and taking a bath by humans. Around 500 companies are responsible for the pollution of Citarum River.
7. Jokulhlaup Lake
Jolkulhlaup is situated in Iceland and is quite deadly. Once the glaciers with the massive amount of water destroy, it swallows the humans and properties as well.
8. Horseshoe Lake
This lake is found in the Mono Country, California, US. The lake exudes a large amount of carbon dioxide due to which there are no trees nearby. It is also forbidden to spend a night near this lake as you may not be able to survive the night.
9. Lake Michigan
Lake Michigan attracts a lot of swimmers in summers but it actually has big undercurrents that often kill the swimmers. Several deaths occur in Lake Michigan in the US every year.
10. Blue Lagoon
It is located in Derbyshire, United Kingdom. It is a very beautiful water body but is equally dangerous for humans. It was originally a quarry that became flooded and now is badly intoxicated. Taking a bath in this lake can harm your skin and stomach.
11. Potomac River
This river is situated in the United States and is 14 miles long. It is very famous for outdoor activities like fishing, Kayaking, and boating. The surface looks extremely calm but you should not be fooled by its appearance. The undercurrent is quite opposite to its otherwise relatively calm surface.
Beware before you go anywhere near any of these water bodies.
