Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today conveyed its decision in the almost three-decade-old Babri Masjid destruction case. BJP pioneers LK Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, and Uma Bharti, and former chief minister Kalyan Singh alongside 28 other charged have been absolved by CBI special judge Surendra Kumar Yadav. The Special CBI Court saw that the 1992 Babri Masjid destruction was done by anti-social elements and it was not pre-planned.
“Today the Special CBI judge acquitted all 32 accused, it held that the accusations by CBI were wrong, it also held that the evidence against the accused was not adequate. The court commented that the demolition was done by anti-social elements, VHP or Sangh had no hand in it. The leaders had tried to stop the incident from taking place. The involvement of the accused, direct or indirect, was not found,” counsel for Sakshi Maharaj, Prashant Singh Atal told.
Ahead of the meeting, security was fixed in the court premises in Lucknow and nobody was permitted inside the court aside from the safeguard and CBI attorneys, and the accused.
The special CBI court had asked all the 32 blamed, including L K Advani, M Joshi and Uma Bharti to be available in the court today. While Uma Bharti has tested positive of Coronavirus, Advani and Joshi have heath concerns in light of their age and pandemic.
Of the other charged Vinay Katiyar, Dharamdas, Vedanti, Lallu Singh, Champat Rai and Pawan Pandey arrived at Lucknow in front of the profession of the decision.
The case identifies with the razing of the disputed structure in Ayodhya on 6 December 1992. The Supreme Court had fixed September 30 as the deadline for the preliminary court to articulate its judgment for the situation.
