President Ram Nath Kovind on Sunday gave his consent to three farm bills that were as of late went in Parliament in the midst of firm protests from the farms and opposition.
The opposition had met the President last week and mentioned him not to give his consent to the farm bills, and passed on to him that their passage in Rajya Sabha was “unconstitutional”.
The three farm bills that have faced a heavy opposition and are also facing staunch protests by the farmers are – The Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill and the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill, the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill.

The upper house saw a gigantic turmoil during the passage of two of the three agri-segment bills a week ago after some resistance individuals went close to the dais of Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh, attempted to grab his mic, flung the rule book at him, and tore official papers.
