Five Stand-Up Comedians Held In Madhya Pradesh Over Hurting Religious Sentiments: Police

The captured comedians incorporate Munawar Faruqui, Edvin Anthony, Prakhar Vyas, Priyam Vyas, and Nalin Yadav. They were arrested after a Hindu gathering filed a FIR against them, blaming the comedians for “indecent and disgraceful” comments against Hindu Gods, Goddesses, and customs.

The comedians purportedly likewise offered comments against Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

As indicated by the report, the Hindu Rakshak Sanstha individuals entered a cafe in Indore, where the comedians were performing at a New Year’s occasion, and caused a ruckus.

They were allegedly roughed up by the group before being taken to the police station, where an FIR was filed against them.

In the FIR, it was asserted that the occasion at the cafe was coordinated without authorization and social distancing rules were violated there. The FIR added that vulgar jokes and provocative remarks were allegedly made at the event to hurt religious sentiments.

The comedians have apparently been booked under India Penal Code’s Sections 295-A (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings), 298 (deliberate intent to wound the religious feelings), 269 (negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life), 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) and 34 (common intention).
