In the Hathras case, the four denounced who had been captured by UP Police wrote a letter to the Superintendent of Police from prison and have guaranteed that they are innocent. In the letter, Sandeep, the primary accused, who according to the family of the victim had strangulated her in the fields, has expressed that he was on a friendly footing with the victim and used to converse with her regularly.
According to Sandeep’s letter, he had met the victim upon the arrival of the occurrence on the farm. Her brother and mom were with her, who had requested that he leave promptly and he had returned to assist his with fathering deal with the animals. Sandeep has claimed that he learned later the victim’s mother and her brother had beat her up over her friendship with him. He has written that he learned that the girl had sustained injuries after being attacked and beaten by her brother and mother on the day of the incident.
The accused has further written that he was friends with the victim and had never assaulted her or abused her in any way. “We are innocent. Please investigate the case and help us in getting justice,” he added. The letter had the signature and thumbprints of all four accused names Luvkush, Ravi, Ram Kumar, and Sandeep.
The letter likewise expresses that aside from Lavkush, two others – Ravi and Ramu are Sandeep’s uncles.
The letter is dated Oct 7, 2020, with an indicated thumb impression of every one of the four charged for this case.
“I have got the letter copy through social media. Haven’t got the original copy so far. Might be given to the media through their family members who went inside to meet them or through jailer of Aligarh Jail,’ said Jaiswal adding “once I get the original copy, I will be in the position to give the statement on this.”
