Democrats in U.S Congress intend to present an article of impeachment against President Donald Trump as early as Monday over allegations of instigating a “coup” at the Capitol building.

A gathering of Democrats, driven by Reps. David Cicilline (D-R.I.), Jamie Raskin (D-Md.), and Ted Lieu (D-Calif.) have drafted a formal impeachment resolution titled “Incitement of Insurrection”, which they plan to introduce on Monday. The measure would impeach Trump for high crimes and misdemeanors “by willfully inciting violence against the government of the United States.”
Whenever passed, it would make Trump the first president in the country’s history to be impeached twice. Liberals hold a dominant part in the U.S Congress. Senate would then hold a trial and vote on his removal from office, with a two-thirds majority required for conviction.
Trump was a year ago impeached by the House over claims he forced the pressured the president of Ukraine to help uncover alleged corrupt dealings of Joe Biden. But acquitted by the Republican-controlled Senate.
