The report of autopsy of the 19-year-old Hathras assault victim Manisha indicated that she endured a crack in the neck after strangulation repeated times by the accused. The victim passed away in Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital on Tuesday morning. She was purportedly assaulted and brutalised on September 14 by four men in Hathras area of Uttar Pradesh.
The postmortem was done by a panel of doctors at Safdarjung Hospital within the sight of police.
The report of autopsy makes reference about the “injury to the cervical spine created by indirect trauma and its resultant sequelae”, said a report.
Referencing a ligature mark over the neck, the report additionally stated, “the ligature mark consistent with attempted strangulation but did not contribute to death in this situation.”
Postmortem report, marked by three doctors, additionally said “crack of C6 cervical vertebra was available with extravasations of blood along the fracture line.”
Hathras Superintendent of Police Vikrant Vir said the accused engaged with the wrongdoing will deal with murder indictments under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code.
At first, the casualty was admitted to AMU’s Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College and Hospital however later admitted to Safdarjung Hospital after her condition worsened. The body of the 19-year-old young lady was forcefully incinerated on Wednesday by Uttar Pradesh police. The family alleged the cops did not consult them before the cremation.
